It’s always difficult to decide which competitions to enter as an artist – no one wants to waste time or hard earned money by submitting entries that have little chance of winning. The PDN Faces Competition is an easy decision though as they specifically have an animal category and I have a good history with the contest. Two of my images from last year’s entry were selected for publication in Photo District New’s July 2009 which is fantastic exposure not only for me, but for the humane society animals featured.
So the difficulty this year then comes in deciding which photographs to submit. Over the course of the last year I’ve created thousands of photographs of adoptable animals and there are many that I feel offer a good chance for success. On the other hand, I have three former rescues living with me that are only too happy to work with me to create new work for the contest. This year I thought I’d give my own pooches a chance for the spotlight.
Unlike most juried competitions that I enter, the PDN Faces Competition also has a Peoples Choice contest. Spring on Black Looking Up has been doing well and is working its way up on the leader board. Everyone with a valid email address is encouraged to vote only once (a second vote removes the first vote). You can vote for Spring here.
Thank you for your help and I hope you enjoy!
