An important part of being a professional artist is getting your work out for people to see. If prospective clients don’t see your work, then they won’t know to buy your work. It seems simple enough but of course the trick is to get your work in the right places. For me, that means finding a balance with some local exposure and with some national or even international exposure. Beginning this week, I have five photographs in this semester’s Washington State University Tri-Cities Chancellor Exhibition Series. The exhibit runs through May 29, 2009, has no admission fee and is available during regular campus building hours (7 am to 10 pm most week days).
Also, for the month of February, my work will be featured at the local framing shop Style In Hangups. I consider myself fortunate to have found this store as they do EXCELLENT work. Not only are they very technically sound, the ladies that own Style In Hangups have a real talent for finding the perfect matting and framing solutions for my work. If you live in the Tri-Cities area, I urge you to give them a try. I am planning to display a wide variety of my work including portraits, animal portraits, infrared landscapes, still life photographs and some of my hand printed, Van Dyke Brown prints. All of my work will be available for sale and I will be offering a 10% discount on my studio fee for anyone that books a session in February or March because of this display.
